Voice Search and AI Assistant Optimization: Is Your Business Showing Up?

September 21, 2026

Is Your Business Showing Up in Voice Search?

"Siri, recommend a good accountant in Kayseri." People ask questions like this millions of times a day — not just by voice, but by typing natural language into ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overview.

User behaviour has shifted. Fewer people type "kayseri accountant" and click blue links. Instead, they ask an assistant a full question and receive a single answer. The business named in that answer is the one that wins the customer.

How Voice Search Differs From Text Search

Text search Voice / AI search
"kayseri seo agency" "Can you recommend a reliable SEO agency in Kayseri?"
"mobile seo" "What is mobile SEO and why does it matter for my website?"
"website cost" "How much does it cost to get a website built for a small business?"

Voice queries are longer, conversational, and almost always phrased as questions. Search engines and AI systems answering these queries prefer content that gives a direct, clear response — not keyword-stuffed copy or vague service descriptions.

Optimising Content for Voice Search

Question-Based Headings With Immediate Answers

Structure your content around the questions users are actually asking. Use the question as a heading, then answer it directly and concisely in the first sentence or two. AI systems scan for this "answer snippet" pattern when selecting sources.

Weak: "Our SEO Services" Strong: "How long does SEO take to show results?" — followed by a direct answer.

Natural Language Throughout

Write for the way people speak, not for keyword density. Think about what someone might ask their phone:

  • "Which SEO agency in Kayseri is the best?"
  • "Why isn't my website showing up on Google?"
  • "What does GEO optimization actually do?"

Including these conversational phrasings in your content — and answering them directly — increases the probability that AI systems select you as the source.

Concise Definitions

For every key concept, write a one- or two-sentence definition. AI assistants answering "what is X?" questions consistently favour sources with the clearest, most compact definitions.

Example: "GEO optimization is the set of content and technical strategies that make your business appear as a cited source in AI search engines like ChatGPT and Perplexity."

Local Voice Search: The Biggest Opportunity

"Near me" and "[city] + [service]" queries are among the highest-frequency voice searches — and they almost always come from people ready to buy, not just researching.

Google Business Profile is critical. Siri, Google Assistant, and other voice assistants use GBP as the primary data source for local recommendations. Your name, address, phone number, and services list must be complete and current.

"Best X in [city]" content. Publish guide-format content that answers local questions in your sector. An SEO agency writing "How to find a reliable digital marketing partner in Kayseri" has a direct shot at being cited when that question is asked of an AI assistant.

Consistent NAP (Name, Address, Phone). Your website, GBP, local directories, and social profiles must show identical contact information. Inconsistencies reduce AI confidence in citing you.

FAQPage Schema: Essential for Voice and AI

Schema markup lets you tag question-and-answer pairs on your pages in a machine-readable format. Both Google voice search and AI systems show a strong preference for schema-validated sources when generating spoken or text answers.

Every service page and blog article should have FAQPage schema with at least 3–5 questions. Make them the questions real people ask — not "Can you tell me about your services?" but "How much does an SEO audit cost?" or "How long before I see results from SEO?"

ChatGPT and Perplexity: Voice Search's New Dimension

Using voice input to ask ChatGPT a question is now a mainstream mobile behaviour. Perplexity also supports voice queries. Both platforms crawl the web when generating answers — and prefer structured, clear, schema-marked content.

Most Turkish businesses have zero visibility on these platforms. Producing content that is explicit, well-structured, and backed by schema is how you claim territory your competitors haven't thought to occupy yet.

Voice and AI Optimisation Checklist

  • Page headings phrased as questions users actually ask?
  • Each question followed by a direct, concise answer?
  • FAQPage schema on all service pages and blog articles?
  • Google Business Profile complete, accurate, and recently updated?
  • NAP consistent across website, GBP, directories, and social profiles?
  • Content uses natural, conversational language?
  • Site fast and mobile-friendly? (Slow sites aren't fully crawled by AI systems)
